UAPD President Speaks to Striking UC Workers

UAPD President Dr. Stuart Bussey joined hundreds of Universit of California medical workers on the picket lines in San Francisco, joining AFSCME International President Lee Sanders and President of AFSCME 3299 Katherine Lybarger.  Dr. Bussey and President Sanders are pictured at right.

“We are all health care workers.  As a doctor I depend on you, and you depend on me,” Dr. Bussey told the crowd.  He criticized the UC administration for not fairly sharing its resources with the workers who keep the system running.

Thousands of health care workers employed by the University of California participated in a strike Tuesday and Wednesday over staffing issues and pension reforms.  The striking workers are employed by UC medical centers and student health centers across the state.
