What is a Union Steward?

Key responsibilities:
Relationship building
Connect with your colleagues across various departments and listen to their concerns in the workplace.
Filing and investigating grievances
Document workplace issues that may violate the union contract, such as safety concerns, scheduling issues, or new policy implementations.
Educating members
Inform members of their rights, the status of negotiations, and union actions.
Building solidarity
Cultivate the union’s presence for collective action by fostering unity and trust in the workplace through honesty and transparency.
