Union Drive Can Proceed at Loma Linda University Health Education Consortium

Loma Linda, CA — The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has cleared the way for nearly 800 front line resident physicians and fellows at Loma Linda University Health to form a union, ending months of legal challenges and protests from one of the largest hospitals in Southern California.

Under the NLRB’s decision released, ballots to be sent to providers via U.S. mail on May 31, 2023. The official ballot count will take place on June 22, 2023.

Dr. Stuart Bussey, President of the Union of American Physicians & Dentists, said much is at stake in the outcome of the Loma Linda union drive.

“Our healthcare system is at a tipping point. Doctors have been shut out of too many important decisions, and that must change,” Bussey said. “Patients don’t want someone who has never provided care making their healthcare decisions. That is what this election is all about.”
