Irvine, CA — Nearly 50 physicians employed by the Centers for Family Medicine and Healthcare Partners Medical Group, an affiliate of OptumCare, won their right to unionize with the Union of American Physicians and Dentist (UAPD).
This is the first group of physicians to unionize affiliated with OptumCare, an important part of UnitedHealth Group—one of the largest healthcare systems and insurance providers in the United States.
The physicians work across five hospitals in Orange County serving a diverse patient population.
“This is a victory for both physicians and patients,” said Dr. Stuart Bussey, UAPD President. “We stand united with the physicians and look forward to representing them. It’s time to put the decision-making power back in the hands of the doctors to ensure the highest quality of patient care.”
