Santa Fe, NM — Frontline physicians, nurse practitioners, and dentists at La Familia Health have won the right to unionize with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD).
With 86 percent majority support, a provider stated that this victory is significant for both La Familia Health providers and the Santa Fe community.
“It empowers us to have a seat at the table and advocate for better working conditions and resources, ultimately improving patient care,” the provider said. “By coming together as a union, we can address systemic issues and inequalities, ensuring that the needs of vulnerable populations are prioritized.”
“The decision-making power needs to be put back in the hands of the people providing caring for the community, not management,” said Dr. Stuart Bussey, UAPD President. “This win is a step in the right direction for the providers at La Familia Health and their patients.”
Pending certification of the election results by the National Labor Relations Board, UAPD looks forward to representing the physicians, nurse practitioners, and dentists at La Familia Health in future contract negotiations.
