Resources and Support for Those Affected by the Los Angeles Wildfires

January 10, 2025

Members of the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) are healers who help others reduce uncertainty and suffering. But sometimes nature can be so sudden and destructive that we cannot protect others or even ourselves. The Los Angeles firestorms have wreaked havoc on several of our communities and many of our UAPD colleagues. As the saying goes in the labor world, “an injury to one of us is an injury to all of us.”

UAPD stands ready to help those of us who have been adversely affected by this natural disaster. Besides donations to relief organizations, such as the American Red Cross and United Way, we recommend contacting Labor Community Services, affiliated with the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor at (213) 381-5611 for a wide variety of support services such as food, water, transportation, housing and more.

Call our UAPD Southern California office at (800) 504-8273 for specific problems associated with your work. Hang in there. This too shall pass.

In unity,

Stuart Bussey, MD, JD

UAPD President
