California Legislature Stands With State Workers

June 11, 2025

On Monday, June 9, the Legislature released its version of the California budget—officially rejecting Governor Newsom’s proposed wage freeze that would have impacted State workers. This is a direct result of the pressure we have applied collectively as union members, proving that when State doctors stand together, we can protect our profession.

Just last week, we launched a letter-writing campaign and joined forces with five other labor unions representing state workers in a powerful rally at the Capitol. Your emails, your calls, and your presence at actions make a difference.

While the legislature’s proposed budget is a victory to be celebrated, the work does not stop here. The deadline to pass the budget is Sunday, June 15. We need every member to continue keeping the pressure on by emailing and/or calling your senators and assembly members.

Do not let them balance the budget on the backs of doctors who provide essential services in State-run facilities.

We are not backing down.
