Clinicians at Community Health of Central Washington File to Unionize to Strengthen Patient Advocacy and Community Healthcare

July 10, 2025

Yakima, Wash. – Approximately 100 clinicians—consisting of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dentists, pharmacists, and mental health counselors—at Community Health of Central Washington (CHCW) have filed for union representation with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD).

The clinicians work across all six CHCW clinic locations in Yakima and Kittitas Counties, providing essential healthcare services to the region’s most vulnerable patients.

“This unionization effort is rooted in a shared commitment to patient care,” Dr. Stuart Bussey, UAPD President, said. “These dedicated clinicians are seeking a voice in the decisions affecting their patients. With a seat at the table, they can work directly with CHCW leadership to ensure that patient care decisions reflect what is happening in the clinics and uphold the highest standards of care.”

With the support of UAPD, the clinicians aim to establish a formal partnership with CHCW that prioritizes comprehensive, patient-centered care that addresses the unique healthcare challenges facing the community.
