Pullman, Wash. – A dozen physicians and advanced practice clinicians at Washington State University (WSU) have filed a petition to be represented by the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) with the Washington State Public Employment Relations Commission (PERC).
These physicians and advanced practice clinicians are responsible for the healthcare needs of nearly 30,000 WSU students. The unionization effort aims to strengthen their voice at the university about matters impacting their profession, working conditions, and improving patient care.
“With a union, the physicians and advanced practice clinicians are protecting their ability to provide exceptional patient care to the thriving student population at one of the state’s largest universities,” said Dr. Stuart Bussey, UAPD president.
PERC is expected to determine union representation within 6 to 8 weeks.
