The UAPD has established a Joint Labor-Management Committee at California State University, which is meeting regularly every two weeks. The immediate goal is to identify a solution for the malpractice coverage shortcomings of the CSU system self-insured malpractice insurance.
The UAPD met with risk management, the office of general counsel and human resources and have learned a great deal about the current malpractice coverage. We have identified that the holes exist in representation by counsel to the state board. Risk management is investigating the possibility of extending their malpractice coverage to cover representation in administrative proceedings.
