Colorado Springs, Colo. – More than 90 providers at Peak Vista Community Health Centers won their election to unionize with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) by an overwhelming majority support.
“Now that the union is in place, it is time for Peak Vista providers and administrators to come forward together with truly open dialogue. We want an environment where professionals feel safe not only sharing our concerns but our ideas on how to improve the organization,” Dr. Heather Welfare, a pediatrician at Peak Vista said.
Welfare explained that the providers want to have an active voice in making the Peak Vista community a place where all staff feel respected, valued, and supported in their efforts to provide the exceptional care that their patients deserve.
“We have heard over the past months that Peak Vista administrators want to have more open communication with providers. This is the time for all involved to put aside ego and any negative feelings and move forward in good faith to make this once again a place where providers can thrive,” Welfare said.
“This is a win not only for the providers but also for the patients of Peak Vista Community Health Centers,” Dr. Stuart Bussey, UAPD president said. “We look forward to collaborating with Peak Vista leadership to negotiate a fair contract that recognizes the value of our providers and their patients. Our objective is to ensure the continuity of delivering high-quality, essential healthcare services to the residents of Colorado Springs and the surrounding communities.”
It is anticipated that the National Labor Relations Board will certify the election results within the upcoming weeks.
