Highlights of the weekend include:
Free CME On Saturday morning, the UAPD Continuing Education Program continues with a free, four (4) credit CE/CME entitled “Forensic Medicine for Practicing Clinicians.” In this class, nationally known forensic expert Cyril Wecht, M.D., J.D, the current Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner-Coroner Lakshmanan Sathyavagiswaran, M.D., Judy Melinek, M.D., who is a practicing board-certified forensic pathologist in San Francisco, and others will be speaking to us about their fascinating specialty. All have insights that can benefit those of us who practice medicine. DOWNLOAD CME FLYER.
Statewide Membership Meetings On Saturday afternoon, members can attend one of five statewide membership meetings. Again, we will be holding a separate membership meeting for California State University (CSU) doctors. In addition, there will be membership meetings for State-employed, County- and Clinic- employed, Private Practice/IPA, and Retired doctors. Agendas for the meetings will be developed over the coming weeks.
Steward Training On Sunday morning, Senior Labor Representative Patricia Hernandez, J.D., will train state stewards and county leaders in grievance handling, dispute resolution, and contract enforcement. The training, which is open to all interested members, will serve as an introduction for new stewards and a refresher course for experienced ones.
In accordance with UAPD policy, the Union covers some transportation and lodging costs for Board Members, State Stewards, and County and Clinic Bargaining Team Members to attend these meetings. All other UAPD members are responsible for their own transportation and lodging costs. See the online registration form, or the invitation packet that will arrive at your home this week, for more details.
