This year’s meeting promises to be both productive and entertaining.  Some highlights are:

Special Guest Congressman Ami Bera, M.D.:  Congressman Bera, a doctor and UAPD member, represents California’s 7th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.  He will be making a special trip to San Francisco to speak to UAPD members on Saturday, October 26th.

Free CME:  From 8:30 am until 1 pm on Saturday October 26th, the UAPD Continuing Education Program continues with a free, four (4) credit CE/CME entitled “Countdown to Obamacare.”   Speakers will include Mitchell H. Katz, M.D., Director of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services.  We’ll also hear from health policy expert Beth Capell, Ph.D. and Ron Zodkevitch, M.D., who has practiced adult, child, and forensic psychiatry in private practice and clinical settings for more than twenty-five years.  Please see the enclosed flyer for more details.  A box lunch will be served.  Download CME Flyer Here.

Statewide Membership Meetings:  On Saturday from 1 pm – 4:30 pm, members can attend one of our five statewide membership meetings.  For the first time, California State University (CSU) doctors will be joined at their meeting by doctors from the University of California Student Health Services, who are currently organizing with UAPD.  In addition, there will be membership meetings for State-employed, County- and Clinic- employed, Private Practice/IPA, and Retired doctors.  Agendas for the meetings will be developed over the coming weeks.

UAPD pays the transportation expenses and Friday night hotel costs for all current Union Stewards, Bargaining Team Members, and Board Members who attend the meeting.  The UAPD Oakland office must make all travel and lodging arrangements.  Stewards, Bargaining Team Members, and Board Members can provide their travel and lodging preferences when they register online.
